Winter Storm Cleanup

From all accounts, we had between 16 and 24 inches of snow. Our Department of Public Works has been out during the entire storm period ensuring that all our roads are cleared.  Consistent heavy snowfall for over a 12-hour period means multiple passes, revisiting each street, and close attention to the intensity and quantity of the snowfall. Our men did an incredible job, and I’m grateful that the public recognized the State of Emergency and stayed off the roads so they could perform the necessary work. Today and tonight the cleanup and most importantly the snow removal will continue.  When we are dealing with this volume of snow on narrow streets, parking lots, throughout the business district, and at points of emergency access, removal is the only option. This is a tremendous amount of work and will require multiple nights to complete.

I was pleased that our Department of Public Works was well prepared for the storm – there is much to be said for being ready. Thank you to the entire DPW team for a job well done.

Now we are all digging out!  Please be careful and pace yourself; it will all get done. It was great to have a snow day, to stop for a moment and to enjoy a break from the everyday busy lives we lead. Truly a moment to exhale and to revel in the beauty of our Village transformed by a big winter storm.

Village Hall will be open tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, during regular business hours, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
