A Thanksgiving Message

We live in a place that is always surprising. The Warwick Valley is remarkable for all that it holds visually and in our imaginations. There is poetry in its wood lots and backroads, a rhythm in its streams and ephemeral vernal pools, a cadence in the sound of crickets and peepers. It is so rich because we live with nature and it touches us daily- sometimes quietly in the hush of twilight or as loud as a flock of geese or a band of coyotes. The Valley we live in is full of new experiences and the unexpected. Finding a landscape that has remained unchanged for hundreds of years is a wonderful reminder of our dignity and respect for the past and hope for the future.

I relish everyday here. Our busy Village, simultaneously historic and up to the minute, is filled the creative energy of shop keepers or folks who make it more beautiful with seasonal plantings and displays. The Village with its parks and well-tended neighborhoods has always been an epicenter of daily life and activity, a stage for commerce, celebration and life. We are lucky, blessed to have these things, this place set in a beautiful Valley.

Thanksgiving is a moment to take a deep breath of country air, to join with family, friends and neighbors to break bread, share in a feast of homemade and gourmet. It is a moment of special dishes, some new and some handed down over generations. It is a time of sharing and giving, a time to remember our common ground and the things we value. It is a season to open our hearts to help each other, to be with each other, to give support and above all to love.

On behalf of the Village Board of Trustees and the entire staff at village Hall and our Department of Public Works we wish you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving.

Enjoy!
