A charming and peaceful 10½-acre community gem in downtown Warwick, at the corner of South Street and Park Way, Stanley-Deming Park offers something for everyone. Natural landscaping, mature trees, a walking trail, and a creek with a quaint bridge create a serene backdrop for play and relaxation. The park features an inclusive playground; handball, basketball, and volleyball courts; picnic areas; and a pavilion—all surrounding a lovely permanent bandstand. Within the park’s green space you’ll also find the 9/11 Memorial Sculpture Garden and the Roger Metzger Arboretum, adding reflection and natural beauty to the community setting.

History: In 2019, Stanley-Deming Park was transformed in just seven days by the incredible efforts of more than 900 community volunteers who came together to build a new playground. Warwick Playground Dreams, a volunteer non-profit group, was created with the mission of updating Warwick’s aging playgrounds with designs that are inclusive, safe, and fun for children of all abilities. Working in partnership with the Village, local schools, and playground designers (Play By Design), the group built the current ADA-accessible playground in Stanley-Deming Park. The playground reflects ideas from the community and offers play experiences that encourage creativity, movement, and togetherness. A short video captures this inspiring project, showcasing the spirit of Warwick. To learn more about the park’s design and future enhancements, you can also explore the Stanley-Deming Park Master Plan.

Hallowed Ground

A serene open space at the corner of Forester Avenue and Route 17A / Galloway Road, adjacent to Park Avenue Elementary School, Hallowed Ground offers a quiet green buffer in the Village. Once the site of the Log Meeting House—the first Baptist Church of Warwick—and its churchyard, the grounds contain many unmarked eighteenth-century graves.

Today, the lawn, blossoming trees, and the “Seven Generations” sculpture make it a simple place of reflection within the Village. There are no playgrounds, restrooms, or reservable facilities—just open grass, mature trees, and a simple respite from the busyness of downtown.
