The recent letter many water customers received was sent to meet New York State Department of Health requirements. These letters are intended to inform you about how your water service line is currently classified as a result of the inventory and verification being performed by the Village.
Each service line has two parts: a public side and a private side. The private side is located from the curb valve near the street to and into your house. Even if you’ve already submitted photos of the private side, the entire line must be verified before its classification can be finalized. This verification process is required as part of a national effort to make customers aware of the material type of their water service.
If your service line is listed as “Unknown,” it is likely a material other than lead, as to date there are currently NO verified lead service lines in Warwick.
If you did not receive a letter, it means your service line information has already been verified. You can see this information on our website in the Lead Line Inventory section. Click here.
The verification process will continue in 2026, with the expectation of verifying the material type of the remaining “Unknown” services. To the extent you are able, please consider assisting the Village by taking the survey mentioned in the letter.
