🚨 Fraud Alert – Please Read

The Village of Warwick has been made aware that some residents and/or applicants are receiving fraudulent emails requesting money wire transfers. These messages may appear official and have even included signature lines and email addresses that look similar to Village addresses, but they are not legitimate.

We also want residents to be aware that these fraudulent payment requests have included the names of actual various Board members and images of the official Village of Warwick seal. These elements were used to make the emails appear legitimate, but they did not come from the Village. Please use caution when reviewing any unexpected payment requests.

 Please note:
The Village of Warwick will NEVER ask you to send a wire transfer for any payment.

If you ever have any doubt about a payment request, invoice, or email, please call Village Hall directly at 845-986-2031 to verify.

To help protect yourself, here are a few tips:

🔍 Check the email address carefully.
Legitimate Village emails only come from:

  • @villageofwarwick.org
  • @villageofwarwickny.gov

Look closely—fraudulent emails often use domains that look nearly identical but are not exact.

⚠️ Be cautious of:

  • Requests for wire transfers or unusual payment methods
  • Slight misspellings in names, titles, or email domains
  • Unfamiliar links or attachments
  • Emails you weren’t expecting, even if they look official
  • Messages that create pressure or urgency

☎️ When in doubt, call us.
We will always confirm whether a communication is genuine.
