Voluntary Water Conservation

The NYSDEC has issued an advisory that our region is in a Drought Watch.

A “watch” is the first of four levels of state drought advisories (“watch,” “warning,” “emergency” and “disaster”). There are no statewide mandatory water use restrictions in place under a drought watch, but residents are strongly encouraged to voluntarily conserve water. Local public water suppliers may require conservation measures, depending upon local needs and conditions.

Considering this advisory and the Village’s reservoirs capacity being reduced due to lack of precipitation the Village is announcing Voluntary Water Restrictions. The Village is already addressing the issue by taking more water from Well #2 through the Microfiltration Plant in Memorial Park and will not perform a third system flushing this year unless conditions markedly improve.

Customers are being asked to conserve water by eliminating outdoor use of water including watering of plants and lawns and washing vehicles. Inside customers should wash only full loads of dishes and clothes. You can find more information on water conservation on the Village website under 💧How to Conserve Water💧
